Should 16 year olds be allowed to vote? by Asher Jacobsberg
The Youth Citizenship Commission is consulting on whether the voting age should be lowered to 16.
The Youth Citizenship Commission (YCC), which reports to the Prime Minister and other senior ministers, is consulting on whether the voting age should be lowered to 16.
Currently you have to be 18 to vote, but the YCC wants to find out whether you think this should still be the case.
Are 16 and 17 year olds mature enough to use their vote sensibly? If you're old enough to join the armed forces and have sex aren't you old enough to vote?
Why not do some research in your school and enter the results on the YCC's website, www.ycc.uk.net?
