Thinking about Food: Try to buy food from the UK...

  • Check the labels to find out where your food comes from, and try to buy as locally as possible so you’re not increasing your footprint by driving a long way to the supermarket.
  • Try to use fresh food where possible and avoid food with lots of packaging, as packaged, chilled and frozen food use more energy.
  • Cut down on meat. Meat production uses a lot of energy. To reduce your carbon footprint, cut down on meat in school and packed lunches, or switch to a meat with a smaller footprint, like chicken.
