Children at Reepham Primary School, Norwich, have been learning how to hammer out hard-hitting headlines in preparation for producing their own newspaper.
The school is one of many in the county that took part in our School Newspaper of the Year 2005 competition in a bid to win up to £3,000 of hi-tech computer and photography equipment to help in the classroom.

Lucy Care, deputy head teacher said she thought the project was an excellent idea. "The children learn about newspapers in school but this takes it much further. This is a really cross-curriculum programme." Some pupils at the school are already involved with putting together their own TV and radio programmes. Our newspaper competition completes the media package. Matthew Kennedy, aged eight, from Whitwell, is on the school council and has been thinking about potential stories. "We're trying to get everyone to eat healthily and get the canteen to use Fair Trade things," he said. "I want to write about that and maybe our school travel plan too."
