Our new Friends – Spurgeons

This month we’re delighted to introduce some new friends of ours. This amazing children’s charity helps young people who are struggling for lots of different reasons like young carers – children who care for a parent, brother or sister, children who have lost someone close to them through death or separation, children who are neglected and not being cared for properly and children who are in trouble with school or the police.

We’d love your school to support Spurgeons in their work as well as to find out more about the kinds of challenges that children like those supported by Spurgeons face.

Wear your wellies and stomp for Spurgeons – a message from Stompy! Hello! I’m Stompy the Caterpillar and I’m the mascot for the Spurgeons Big Orange Stomp! My friends at Spurgeons have such a big job to do helping children who are facing all kinds of difficult situations – but I know that they work really hard to make sure that a child’s current life doesn’t have to dictate their future. On 14th October they’ll be holding their national fundraising day – The Big Orange Stomp – and they’d love your school to be a part of it! The theme is ‘Wear your wellies and stomp for Spurgeons’ and there’s loads that you could do!

stompy signYou could have a big disco – wellies only, of course! Or have a stomptastic time planting seeds! You could hold a wellie wearing football or netball tournament – whatever you think will capture the imagination of the children in your school – and don’t forget to tell us and Spurgeons what you’re up to!

To find out more about The Big Orange Stomp you can go to the website at www.thebigorangestomp.com – it’s full of fun ideas as well as resources that you can use in class to learn more about the lives of the children that Spurgeons supports – they even complement the National Curriculum! To find out more about how Spurgeons helps children and young people – maybe like those in your own school – go to www.spurgeons.org. Look out for more information from Spurgeons in our next newsletter!
