Woodthorne go Planting JCB Diggers ready for action! Woodthorne Primary School were fortunate enough to be asked to participate in a local community project recently - planting trees!

The School Council at Woodthorne Primary School were invited to the woods by James Beattie House to help the Little Environment Group plant some trees. This is their report:

"We were very excited about going out of school and doing something environmentally friendly but we weren’t sure what the job would be. We decided to take the youngest School Councillors as well. We all thought they would need a lot of help - how wrong we were. After we were shown how to use the spades properly and plant the trees the youngest Student Councillors zoomed into action. We called them the J.C.B diggers and Kieron was christened the Worm King as he found loads of them. As we planted it thankfully stopped raining and the organisers Allison, Steve and Dennis kept us going with much needed help. In all we planted over 130 trees. Wow. We had a fab time and we’ll be able to see these trees growing. A big thanks to the organisers from all of the Student Council we really enjoyed it."
